"Lamitnadev" – Background and Identifying Needs
In Beit Shemesh (approx. 85,000 inhabitants) and the surrounding area there is a weak population, that is concentrated mainly in several specific neighborhoods in the city. This is a diverse population encompassing new immigrants from Ethiopia and Caucasia (Kazakhstan), single parent families, and a veteran population – all these sectors have one thing in common – daily socio-economic distress.
This distress is manifest both in basic existential hardships – the difficulty in supplying basic needs such as a roof over their heads, food, clothing, etc., and socio-emotional needs – educational and employment gaps, lack of environmental and emotional confidence, exposure to various risk factors and the list goes on and on.
These gaps make weak populations isolated islands within the community and make them feel alienated and helpless.
"Lamitnadev" organization has been established against this backdrop with the aim of reinforcing the sense of belonging and vitality among weak populations on the one hand, and on the other hand, reinforcing mutual and social responsibility among the general community. This target stems from the the understanding and faith that this is the only way to keep a worthy and strong social fabric.
